PrincipalStephen is a decisive and innovative IT leader with an extensive background in the design, planning and implementation of complex programs focused on delivering premier service through the use of leading-edge technologies. He is an expert on technology strategies, vendor management, outsourced and co-sourced relationships, consolidation / mergers, large scale project/ program management and developing strong infrastructure teams.
Stephen is widely recognized in the industry for his ingenuity and common sense professional approach to customer needs. He has assisted numerous companies in the development and execution of IT sourcing strategies that are both aligned with broader business objectives and deliver significant cost savings and service improvements. With a hands-on approach, he works with clients on their transition to their new IT service delivery models, and leads the establishment of effective IT governance and vendor management frameworks.
Prior to WGroup, as Principle Senior IT Infrastructure Lead for ACE Group, Stephen helped to define strategic initiatives for infrastructure transformation, data center consolidation, organization change management and service delivery. He provided senior IT leadership support on efforts to enhance infrastructure capabilities and delivery mechanisms (Service Catalog, CMDB, etc.). He successfully challenged the organization to improve productivity and reduce costs through improved uses of technology.
As Senior Director, IT Global Service Delivery at Covance, Stephen was responsible for the global delivery of all IT Services. This included the introduction of best practices and ITSM toolsets that provided transformational change on how “Services” are requested, provisioned and reported. He managed the delivery of services from outsourced service providers, and led the IT Security provisioning team responsible for all access and governance capabilities globally. He sat and chaired various IT-Steering Committees in support of data center consolidations and infrastructure service delivery. He created and led a team of Service Delivery Managers (worldwide) that were responsible for the relationship between IT and business owners with a focus on exceeding all SLA’s, and enhancing customer satisfaction and transparency.
As Senior Director Global IT Optimization at Reed Elsevier, Stephen was responsible for the strategic and tactical programs focused on transforming and enhancing delivery of all infrastructure services on a global basis. Specifically, he led a multi-site data center consolidation program. This effort provided the consolidation of all data centers into an outsourced physical environment supported by a matrix of internal FTE’s and strategic vendors. Stephen spearheaded the development and deployment of a standardized approach to ITSM disciplines utilizing the ServiceNow toolset to support the new model.
As Executive Director of IT and Infrastructure at Quest Diagnostics, Stephen was responsible for the management of all delivery platforms, while charging the Infrastructure Organization to become leaders in Service Delivery, IT – Security, Voice / Data Engineering, Systems Engineering, Incident / Change Management, Disaster Recovery, Middleware and Database Administration. He led a 5 year data center consolidation effort that reduced the data center footprint from 27 sites to 3, and integrated all support efforts into a logical single “Center of Excellence”. By negotiating and managing several outsourcing efforts, he enhanced service provisioning while reducing TCO. These agreements ranged in 3-7 years terms and totaling $65 to $75mm, and included functions to support multiple data center geographies throughout the country and abroad with the primary objective focused on business value and growth while maintaining financial transparency to the company.
As Vice President of Data Center Services at Citibank, Stephen was responsible for the management of multiple remote and consolidated processing centers within a dynamic and competitive market place. He consolidated 5 major data centers in South America into the Hardware Center and Command Center Infrastructure with extraordinary annual savings.
Stephen holds an ITIL v3 certification and Six-Sigma Green Belt certification.
