Sheel Kishore

Managing Principal

Sheel has 30+ years of experience in IT Strategic Planning, Governance, Sourcing, Organizational Design, Program Management, and Operational Excellence. He has been involved in a number successful IT Transformations and Turnarounds. His experience covers a range of industries and complex IT situations.

Sheel has assisted several WGroup clients develop and execute IT sourcing strategies that are aligned with broader strategic IT needs and which also delivered significant cost savings and service improvements. He has also taken hands-on roles with clients to assist with the transition to outsourced IT service delivery models and by the leading the establishment of effective IT governance and vendor management frameworks.

As Associate Partner, IBM Global Services, Sheel assisted several companies in improving Business-IT alignment, developing strategic IT roadmaps, restructuring IT organizations, implementing key initiatives, and improving IT performance and value. As an Interim-IT Executive with private equity holding company, Sheel developed and executed an implementation roadmap that successfully rationalized, integrated, and stabilized production systems following a merger.

 

As VP for IT Strategy and Planning for Royal Ahold, a $45 B global food retailer, Sheel developed the strategic IT roadmap, launched a $120+ M Business and IT transformation program and re-structured IT operations across multiple business operating companies located in US and Europe, each with their own IT organization.  This transformation restructured the IT service delivery model within each operating company and balanced it with shared services delivery components to reduce costs, improve efficiencies while at that same time allowing each operating company control over critical aspects of the IT services. A global governance model was also implemented to support the on-going evolution of IT strategy and services. Sheel was also instrumental in developing the IT strategy for the turnaround initiatives at US Foodservice where he assumed an interim-VP role and over a two-year period led several major IT initiatives to consolidate 16 separate IT operating environments, create integrated systems and re-structure the IT organization for greater efficiency and cost savings.

As Director for AlixPartners LLC, Sheel was involved in several large turnarounds. He ran the CIO Office at Fleming Foods during its re-organization and subsequent sale. Sheel was a Principal at aligne Inc., a successful boutique consulting firm that worked with C-level executives to improve IT performance. During his tenure at aligne, Sheel led a number of complex engagements at Glaxo-SmithKline, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Ford Motor Company, Universal Studios, etc., that focused on significant operational improvements and cost takeouts delivered via outsourcing initiatives, organizational re-design, process improvements, etc.

As Director, Consulting Services for Siemens Business Systems, Sheel managed a staff of over 160 consultants, delivering IT outsourcing services. While at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Sheel did seminal work in the development of Picture Archival and Communications Systems.

Sheel has an MBA from the Wharton School, where he graduated as Palmer scholar. He has MS in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
