PrincipalJohn Dabek is an award-winning, pragmatic, and innovative global technology executive with extensive M&A, sourcing, organizational design, infrastructure management, finance, executive management expertise. He specializes in IT transformations and leading large scale programs. John combines an analytical approach with organizational awareness to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and lead across all levels to achieve results. His industry experience includes Professional Services, Banking, Insurance, Travel, Telecommunications, and Transportation industries for both private and public companies. Prior to WGroup, John was the CTO of Towers Watson, a $3.5B public global professional services firm that helps organizations improve performance through effective people, risk, and financial management. In his role, John was responsible for management of IT operations across 135 Offices in 40 countries.
During his tenure, John led the integration of Towers Perrin with Watson Wyatt, forming Towers Watson. In the role as IT integration lead, John directed the global technology transformation of the newly merged entity. The Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt merger was proven to be a success due to John’s passion and dedication to collaborating with the business. He worked closely with business counterparts as partners, while always keeping a focus on open and transparent communication. Critical to the integration effort, was instrumental in leading the organization design for the combined entity and successfully led communications and change management processes that inspired the organization to believe in the new IT strategy. Proficient in ITSM, John has extensive experience with IT process maturity improvement, and led an implementation of ServiceNow. During the integration, John was also responsible for consolidating vendor contracts, and creating a vendor management group within the IT organization that fostered strategic partnerships with key vendors.
John used the integration event as a vehicle for service delivery transformation. He developed and implemented a selective sourcing strategy for Service Desk, End User Computing, Global Network, and Data Centers and internal sourcing for remaining functions. He negotiated and implemented the global outsourcing contract for key Information Technology functions. John was instrumental in developing and directing the “One IT” Strategy for Infrastructure including the development of a Hybrid Computing Strategy that improved global data center services. He led technology integration of multiple managed service providers resulting in a 20% reduction of costs through effective contract negotiation. With the COO, John co-led the implementation of Oracle Financial systems and related business processes for core time entry, billing, accounts receivable and project accounting.
Prior to Towers Watson, John was the Vice President of Corporate Services at Day and Zimmerman where he was responsible for directing Financial, Information Technology, Business Strategy and other corporate functions for the company. He developed a complex strategic business plan to align acquisition strategy that leveraged the value of existing businesses. He led an effort to create a unified CRM strategy across companies to better leverage customer relationships for cross selling and future growth. He was involved in all aspects of the CRM evolution from planning to execution and transformed Day and Zimmerman’s go-to-market approach to increase revenues.
As Senior Vice President, Chief Technology and Solutions Officer at Rosenbluth International, a $5B international travel Management Company responsible for global technology, product strategy development, implementation and support, John was a key contributor to the overall business strategy that contributed to significant business growth. He managed a start-up global services provider group with $10M in first year revenues. He directed cross‐functional re-engineering efforts identifying $35M in annual cost reduction opportunities. He implemented Oracle’s Financial ERP system that streamlined business processes and significantly reduced DSO. He developed and implemented several new industry leading products including application to geographically track travel location of employees providing value to clients resulting in increased sales.
As MetLife’s Vice President Corporate Systems, John directed all corporate services technology including human resources, accounts payable, purchasing, investor relations and other corporate functions. He was a member of the Steering Committee responsible for IT Strategy, Planning and other key decision‐making. He directed technology efforts of demutualization which was one of the largest public offerings in the history of Wall Street. He implemented PeopleSoft HR Systems including Human Resources, benefits, payroll, open enrollment, self-service and compensation planning that reduced cost by $20M and improved efficiency of HR processes. He was an early adopter of corporate-wide e-procurement systems that significantly reduced cost.
John holds a BS from Rutgers University with Magna cum Laude honors and an AA in Accounting from Brandywine College with Summa cum Laude honors. John was the recipient of the 2012 Outsourcing Excellence Award for Best Data Center ITO. He received the 2001 “Marcus Award” for outstanding leadership by a Senior Executive. In 2002, he was the recipient of the CIO Magazine Award. He has also been the recipient of the Best On-Line Banking System in the US Award as well as the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for Innovative Retail Banking Systems.
