He served as the Interim Head of IT to lead the organization through a candidate search and transition to new leadership. He led a consulting team to deliver change management and process definition activities to implement an ITIL-based ITSM operating model while providing strategic consulting on technology investment and vendor partnerships.

As Senior Director for Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting, Gustav worked with Pacific Gas & Electric. He led a team of architects in developing a comprehensive Enterprise Solution Architecture for an enterprise-scale Geospatial Information System (GIS) implementation. He served as an interim Lead Information Architect and helped establish the discipline of Information Architecture with a focus on strategic roadmaps and reference architectures for such areas as big data, content management, and integration. He transformed the organization’s cybersecurity function with an emphasis on risk management that led to the development of a patented Risk Management Framework. Using Solution Architecture disciplines for a SmartGrid technology pilot, he led a large-scale technology estimation project to support a regulatory rate filing. He successfully executed an organizational design for their Enterprise Architecture function, which improved the overall structure and operation.

As Director of Corporate IT Systems for Sony Pictures Entertainment, he was a leader of delivery for the corporate systems business function. He led the implementation of a best-practice combination of processes and tools to enable a movement from internal development to a cost-efficient managed service provider framework. The processes and tools helped ensure that vendor results and outputs were well defined and measured.

Working as an Enterprise Architect for Cigna, Gustav maximized business results by taking over application delivery leadership for a multi-million-dollar document generation business system that was highly unstable and failing to deliver the promised business value. He initiated a business case to replace the system in a fiscal year with net hard benefits that offset the cost of replacement resulting in CIO recognition as a leading outcome for the organization.

Gustav holds a BA from University of Southern Colorado and a Masters degree from the University of Hartford. He has delivered multiple industry presentations, addressed senior leadership, and taught at the collegiate level. He also serves as the CEO for Colorado-based healthcare technology startup, MyChoiceMD.
