PrincipalDavid Spindel has over 25 years of experience in Strategy and Business / IT Transformation – both as a consultant and as an executive with Fortune 500 technology companies. At WGroup, David focuses on IT Strategy, IT Transformation, IT / Business Alignment, Sourcing Advisory Services, IT Governance, and Organization Design and Implementation. His recent successful engagements include the following:
- For a $15B+ global manufacturing company: Led and facilitated the functional / organizational design and implementation planning for the integration of the client’s Latin American and North American IT functions into a single organization supporting the entire Western Hemisphere
- For a $2B+ private equity owned home health care provider: To support the “carve out” of a large subsidiary division in anticipation of a potential future liquidity event, developed plans to create self sufficient IT function for the division. Addressed all aspects of the IT function including applications, infrastructure, sourcing strategy, staffing and organization. Developed detailed transition / migration roadmaps, and a transitional services agreement to support the anticipated transaction.
- For a $50B+ telecommunications company: Facilitated a redesign of the clients approach and processes for managing multiple large outsourcing providers to ensure that providers acquired and deployed the skills and methodologies needed to ensure success of the client’s new, transformational IT strategy.
- For a $15B+ automotive industry manufacturing company: Developed a clean sheet strategy for the client’s IT function. Then, in follow on projects, facilitated the design and implementation of a new IT organizational model and a new set of IT Governance processes to enable execution of the strategy and drive increased alignment between IT and Business leadership.
Before joining WGroup, David was Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning for Unisys Corporation and prior to that VP of Strategy for Unisys’ Professional Services and Vertical Solutions business unit. While at Unisys, David designed, deployed and managed the corporate strategic planning process; he ran corporate and BU processes for solution development and investment prioritization; he led numerous strategic initiatives addressing product portfolio, go to market strategy, cost structure and operational efficiency, and he managed and supported key strategic acquisition and divestiture activities.
Prior to joining Unisys, David spent over 20 years at Xerox Corporation where he held increasingly responsible positions in strategy, product management, strategic pricing and marketing, most recently as VP of Strategy for the company’s $5B Document Production Systems business unit.
David has both a BA in Mathematics and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
