Craig Bickel


Craig has over 30 years of executive and consulting experience in IT Strategic Planning, IT Governance, IT Sourcing, Program Management, Organizational Design and Operational Excellence. He has been an award winner from ComputerWorld and CIO magazine and has been the principal driver of business and IT transformation in numerous companies and industries.

As Interim CIO and principal consultant at Bankers Insurance Corporation, Craig led the transformation of the IT organization for this diversified insurance and financial services company. As part of that transformation, he led the development of the company’s first IT strategy and road map, the implementation of IT governance and the reorganization of the overall IT structure. Additionally, he restructured the development organization, launching 4 new products and direct-to-consumer ecommerce capabilities. As a member of the office of the CEO, Craig was responsible for developing the IT strategy and architecture for cross-business marketing and selling.

As SVP & CIO for Lawson Inc. the world 3rd largest ERP vendor, Craig was responsible for a total renewal of the company’s core business processes and systems. He led the consolidation of many ERP systems into one global implementation of Lawson’s core software. Additionally he led the redevelopment of Lawson’s global support platform and integrated it with the company’s award winning customer service portal (MyLawson). He also sponsored and led the transformation of management reporting, moving the company from a regional business model to a global vertical market model. At the same time, he reduced costs by 15% during the market downturn and built out a captive offshore support center in Manila.

As Director for AlixPartners LLC, Craig was involved in a number of turnaround and merger integration engagements. Key clients included British Petroleum, WireCo, Atari, Ace and Venture Trucking.

As VP and CIO of Cabot Corporation, a $3B global specialty chemical company Craig was responsible for business and technology strategy and direction, support of all business functions worldwide with global applications (ERP, CRM, SCP, MES, Quality, Business Intelligence, and eBusiness), operation and management of global data centers. During his tenure he led the global transformation of all systems and business processes. This project was a $50 million, 150 person project to globally re-engineer core processes, build regional shared services centers, and establishes globally standard management information. Recognition included: awards for innovation and enterprise value from CIO Magazine (CIO 100) and InformationWeek (Information Week 500).

As a Principal for CSC Index, Craig was engaged in Business Reengineering, IT strategy, IT transformation, outsourcing, assessment and interim management for clients in many industries. Key clients included, Johnson & Johnson, RJR, Burlington Industries, GTE, Thyssen Krupp, Hoechst, Sara Lee and others.

Craig has held numerous ‘up through the ranks’ positions in IT in companies including, Space Division – Rockwell International, General Mills and EcoLab.

Craig has an MBA in from the University of Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Southern California majoring in Quantitative Analysis and Marketing.
