Alan Rouse

Alan is an adaptable and results-oriented senior finance executive and advisor, with an established history of accomplishment in finance leadership, business turnaround, team engagement, process reengineering, internal controls, cash-flow management, risk mitigation, global shared services and business process outsourcing. Across a career deep rooted in the consumer products and manufacturing industries, he leverages a collaborative leadership style to solve problems, develop top-performing teams and build effective business relationships. He has a track record of success in providing strategic financial steering and guidance to peer executives and C-level management to drive results.

Prior to WGroup, Alan was a finance executive at Mars, a global manufacturing company. In his most recent role as Global Financial Processes and Controls Director, Alan created the Global Finance Shared Services organization by leading the strategy, selection, contracting and transition to an outsourced environment for finance and accounting and business processes. He instituted standard finance processes across the entire Mars Inc. business, that were enabled by modern capabilities such as robotic process automation (RPA). In this role, Alan designed a technology enablers’ road map and led the development and deployment of tools, such as automated reconciliation, global accounts payable approval work flow, supplier portal, and e-invoicing for business units to take advantage of standard finance processes globally without central support.

As the CFO and VP of Finance for Mars Petcare Russia, Alan partnered with peers on the Petcare Leadership Team in strategic decision-making while managing the delivery of financial results for a $930,000,000 business with three factories across Russia. He expertly maintained strong cash flow through high earnings while investing in future growth, improved credit risk management, and controlled inventory levels. He created proven enterprise risk management processes, which enabled proactive planning for potential risk due to economic uncertainty. The processes initiated actions to address possible slowdown in sales, imported commodity inflation, and strain on cash flow.

As the CFO and Finance Director for Mars Africa, Alan served as a member of the African leadership team for South Africa, Sub-Sahara Africa, and island nations in Indian Ocean. He led the turnaround of the finance function, including developing and recruiting employees to build talent pipeline, enhancing organizational structure, addressing associate performance issues, and the overall improvement of processes throughout the finance team. He oversaw the turnaround of the South African business, which provided analysis and insights to the leadership team. His efforts resulted in the closure of poor-performing business units and splitting into business segments, enabling the organization to focus on related product groups.

Prior to Mars, Alan held numerous roles for Gillette Group, South Africa including Financial Controller and Financial Accounting and Treasury Manager. In these roles, Alan developed and led the financial accounting, reporting, and planning and analysis teams.

Alan has an MBA from Bond University. He attended the University of South Africa for his undergraduate and received honors in Accounting Sciences, Accounting, Audit, and Tax.
