Vice President of IT and Cybersecurity

Location: Toronto, Canada

Reporting to Client’s Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Information Technology and Cybersecurity will elevate the role of the company’s technology function to be a crucial enabler of the company’s growth agenda. The right candidate will bring a partner-oriented, problem-solving approach to strategy and delivery while building a mutually beneficial and trusting relationship with internal stakeholders and external partners. They will adeptly communicate the value of IT in business terms and will accelerate and improve technology’s role in the commercial success of the organization. Indicators of successful execution will be, among others:

  • Re-establishment of business confidence in IT from executive leaders
  • Development of a transparent and rational technology roadmap that supports the business’ needs
  • Building a high caliber, adaptable, and service-oriented IT organization, and
  • the Creation of strong relationships across the organization at all levels.

In an organization where technology differentiation underpins the foundation of its strategy, this key executive position offers a variety of challenges and opportunities while functioning as the key driver of strategic IT initiatives including evolving and enhancing cybersecurity risk management and customer digitization.

Key Responsibilities

The VP of IT and Cybersecurity will lead Client’s IT transformation efforts, initiatives, and activities, providing expertise and recommendations with a focus on transforming Client’s IT application infrastructure and customer digital experience

  • Defining the IT vision
  • Creating an integrated Business-IT strategy and roadmap
  • Establish the supporting funding model for execution of the roadmap and our digital customer initiatives
  • Driving the creation of an Program Office to manage the delivery of process and technology transformation programs
  • Building a productive, trusting, contributing, and collaborative relationship with the Executive Team and stakeholders of the function across all levels of the organization
  • Cybersecurity
  • Develop and maintain a technology and cybersecurity framework and approach, in alignment with our overall Client strategy
  • Overseeing the implementation of security tools including associated enablement and automation.
  • Maintaining IT Security compliance
  • Proactively staying ahead of potential cybersecurity threats to Client and/or it's customers
  • Building/developing a World Class IT Organization.
  • Taking a rigorous approach to talent development, succession planning and recruitment, striking the right balance between in-house and external support, ensuring the right skill sets are found to drive continuous improvement and greater efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain and support a high-performance IT organization with a focus on execution and client/customer centricity and leverage their expert level knowledge of the business to enhance opportunities and IT value add.
  • Assess and bridge the gaps between the current external technologies and our existing platforms

Candidate Profile

The VP of IT and Cybersecurity will be an accomplished technology leader with a strong digital mindset and a track record of innovation, execution, and success. They will bring global experience in all aspects of technology management and will be a talented analytical problem solver. The successful candidate will have a management style that emphasizes development, teamwork, engagement and results. He/she will be a skilled communicator who builds relationships and will collaborate and influence at all levels. The right candidate will have a proven record of taking a fact-based approach to the assessment of the current state of operations and the implementation of pragmatic solutions to address business needs. He/she will seek to extract maximum value from existing technology investments while pushing into the right new areas to fulfill the evolving needs of the business.


15+ years of business leadership experience


IT Leadership Experience

5+ years of Senior level IT leadership experience within an organization of comparable scale and complexity.

Team Development

Has built a high performing global or multi-site IT organization.

Transformation Experience

Has defined and delivered a clear technology vision and path to value in a number of IT transformation programs of material complexity.

Applications Management

Is familiar with relevant ERP, CRM and channel applications and middleware.

Vendor Management

Experienced in sourcing strategies. Has bought, negotiated and managed third-party vendor agreements spanning all application and infrastructure requirements.

Channel Innovation

Has developed plans and implemented technologies to facilitate customer engagement and service via digital channels.

Education

MBA preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. Advanced degree preferred
