Confidential client is seeking a dynamic technology leader to drive its digital transformation journey. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) provides vision, leadership, strategy and oversight for information technology throughout all functions and locations. The CTO is responsible for establishing current and long-range direction for technology aimed at keeping the organization competitive and in a position to grow as a platform. Although the CTO’s area of responsibility is in technology, the CTO is a member of the executive management team and a key member of the company leadership.

The CTO, in partnership with peer business leaders, will build a shared vision for technology and implement strategies to meet strategic business goals. In addition, the CTO will lead design, development, support and enhancement of existing technology. The CTO will lead the IT team to streamline processes, integrate/merge technology, and create cost effective ways to leverage technology. The CTO will work to simplify the existing application landscape and establish a clear application architecture vision and roadmap, within which core systems will be modernized and transformed.

The CTO is responsible for Technology Infrastructure, Operations, Development and Security while improving overall process maturity and ensuring that these critical areas of the business meet uptime and data protection objectives.

The CTO has enterprise-wide impact, making decisions about services offered, expansion, improvement and evolution of those services; sets technical direction and standards; and has responsibility to make decisions accordingly. The CTO will collaborate with the Board and Executive Leadership team regarding strategic planning, as well as with the business to create solutions.

This leader must be a technology visionary to enable competitive growth via advanced technology. Requirements of this role are expert knowledge of current and emerging technologies in addition to technology directions and applications that fulfill business needs. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and positively influence the team.

The CTO will be the face of technology to the organization and must establish and maintain trust and confidence of staff, clients and key stakeholders.

Client is in Eastern West Virginia with additional offices in MD and VA.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent years of experience
  • A minimum of 15 years of IT experience with an emphasis on software and product development
  • 7 years of leadership experience providing supervision, coaching and mentoring to information technology professionals
  • Demonstrated prior experience supporting technology infrastructure services
  • Experience with application development and deployment methods (Agile / DevOps)
  • Experience with s/w and product development for enterprise deployment in Data centers, Cloud, Desktop, SaaS as well as Mobile apps.
  • Experience in managing as well as negotiating IT vendor contracts and agreements
  • Demonstrated experience in structuring organizations to effectively operate as a shared service
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high performing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience working in IT within E-commerce or Digital companies
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and maintaining short- and long-term plans and budgets for technology
  • Experience with/in educational environments and associate software platforms
  • Experience with ITIL or ITSM
  • Experience leading and managing technology infrastructure services
  • Experience transforming a legacy custom environment into a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) environment
  • Experience with digital/mobile/web technologies/projects in a large organization
  • Proven experience in developing a vision, roadmap, and successful technology framework
