Leadership Team

Harry Wallaesa

Founder and Chairman
Harry Wallaesa founded WGroup to help companies optimize their IT processes and assets to create business value. He has more than 30 years of experience as a business executive. Prior to founding WGroup, he was President and COO of Safeguard Scientifics, and during his tenure, Safeguard was transformed from a regional player to an internationally recognized company. He also served as Chairman of Compucom, and during that period, Compucom was able to shift its focus away from the commoditized hardware business toward a higher-margin services focus, resulting in more profitability and significantly improved shareholder value. Harry was also founder and CEO of aligne Inc., a management consulting firm that assisted senior executives with their most pressing information technology challenges. Prior to that, he served for more than 10 years as the CIO of Campbell Soup Company.

Jeff Vail

Chief Executive Officer
Jeff Vail is a business leader with 20 years of executive experience working with companies such as Unisys, SAP, Siemens/Unify, Quintiq, and Dassault Systemes. Prior to WGroup, Jeff served in several leadership roles where he played a pivotal role in strategy development and execution, including Chief Commercial Officer at Quintiq, which increased in value from $120 million to $340 million during his two-year tenure; SVP of Global Corporate Marketing at Unify (formerly Siemens Enterprise Communications); VP of Enterprise Marketing at SAP Americas, and General Manager of Infrastructure Solutions at Unisys.

Rich Carroll

Chief Financial Officer
With over 15 years in financial management experience, Rich Carroll joins WGroup after four years at Quintiq, where he served as CFO and a member of the Quintiq board. During his tenure, Rich was also instrumental in leading FP&A and Treasury through a period of growth in which revenues and valuation nearly tripled, leading to a successful sale of the firm to Dassault Systemes. Before joining Quintiq, Rich held positions as Director of Corporate Strategy and Planning, and was Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Ricoh Americas Corp, where he was the finance lead for U.S. key verticals and global customer segments, representing over $2 billion in revenue.

Ashley Munro

Vice President, Strategic Accounts
As Vice President of WGroup, Ashley Munro partners with IT leaders from mid-sized to Fortune 50 companies across all verticals on critical IT projects. Prior to WGroup, Ashley held various sales and business development roles at SAP. He last served as SAP’s Director in Strategic Alliances, where he was responsible for executing and managing SAP’s strategic partnerships in North America. He led the SAP and IBM partnership, and previously worked with companies like HP, Dell, and Cisco. Before that, Ashley was SAP’s Director of Partner Co-Innovation in North America.

Kerry Marker

General Manager, upGrow
Kerry Marker is responsible for talent acquisition and management at WGroup, where she blends her skills in recruiting, marketing, selling, and operational leadership to fulfill client demands. Prior to WGroup, she served in marketing-management positions at leading technology companies such as Apptio, Qlik, Siemens Enterprise Communications (now Unify), and SAP. In these roles, Kerry developed significant sales pipelines through broad and account-based marketing programs, creating and executing strategic campaign initiatives aimed at new product introductions, demand generation, pipeline acceleration, and customer retention. Earlier in her career, she worked as a technical recruiter for national IT staffing firm Brooksource.

Beth Thomas

Director of Marketing
Beth is a results-oriented leader with more than 15 years' experience in marketing, sales operations, and business development. She currently oversees WGroup's marketing operations. Before joining WGroup, Beth was the head of marketing at Quintiq North America, where she was responsible for all aspects of marketing, from leading marketing campaigns to meeting software sales goals. She is also a sales veteran, having spent more than eight years as a sales operations manager at SAP, where she was responsible for driving over $25 million in annual revenue. Beth holds a bachelor's degree in Communication and Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.

Doug Smith

General Manager
Doug has more than 20 years of experience as an IT leader and strategist. Before joining WGroup, Doug built and led the Enterprise Architecture function for McKesson, a Fortune 15 healthcare company. In his role as VP of Architecture and Solution Management, he led a team to develop technology strategies and roadmaps for McKesson’s businesses worldwide. At McKesson, he also served as VP of Data Center Transformation, and led a multi-year, multi-million dollar program to modernize and transform IT infrastructure and support teams. Doug has also served as an interim CIO for several of McKesson’s smaller businesses. Prior to McKesson, Doug worked for Novant Health as Director of Corporate Applications; and as a consultant for IBM Global Services, where he built an intranet to streamline delivery of content to physicians and nurses.

Bill Fowler

Managing Principal
Bill Fowler has designed and led large complex consulting engagements for Fortune 500 clients, and has worked on some of the world’s largest outsourcing agreements. Prior to joining WGroup, Bill led the North American Sourcing Advisory practice for a global consulting firm focused on IT performance improvement. In that role, Bill evaluated a broad range of global outsourced environments and designed governance structures to manage IT operations. Earlier in his career, he established the Application Development benchmarking practice in the U.S.

Jeffrey P. Romano

Managing Principal
Jeff Romano brings more than 30 years experience to WGroup. He has held senior IT management positions in various industries, including an engagement that exceeded $1.9 billion in total contract revenue. He has been involved in due diligence activities in support of corporate acquisitions and outsourcing discovery efforts, and has been responsible for several outsourcing deals with contract values in excess of $350 million. Prior to joining WGroup, Jeff served as General Manager for Verizon, with comprehensive responsibility for all operations, including IT, finance, repair operations, distribution, and P&L performance.

John Dabek

Managing Principal
John is an award-winning technology executive with over 30 years’ experience in M&A, organizational design, and IT leadership. He specializes in leading technology transformations and large-scale programs, and is known for his ability to combine an analytical approach with organizational awareness to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and lead across all levels to achieve results. Before joining WGroup, John held many senior executive roles including CTO and CIO at Towers Watson, CIO of Rosenbluth International, and VP of Corporate Systems at MetLife. He holds a BS from Rutgers University with Magna cum Laude honors and an AA in Accounting from Brandywine College with Summa cum Laude honors.

Keith Chappell

Managing Principal
Keith Chappell has led corporate strategy organizations and professional services business units at major global technology corporations for over a decade. Prior to WGroup, he headed the corporate strategy team at Unisys, overseeing an extensive turnaround program and strategic repositioning of the company. He also served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Lucent Technologies, led the Global Communications Applications practice within LWS Professional Services, consulted for McKinsey & Company, and worked for NASA as a space shuttle propulsion systems flight controller.

Rick Letourneau

Managing Principal
Rick Letourneau has over 25 years of experience leading organizational IT transformational projects, including major engagements with several Fortune 50 companies. Chief among them: implementing a sourcing strategy and a set of infrastructure services contracts valued at $1 billion for a prominent healthcare organization, resulting in a 50% reduction spend in contracts over five years. He also led a project that resulted in a 15% reduction in storage operational expenses for a top medical supply company. Prior to joining the WGroup, Rick held senior level positions at Tata Consultancy Service, NorthHighland Consulting and Hewlett Packard, where he developed strategies and transformational programs centered on IT service management and IT optimization.

Sarthak Brahma

Managing Principal
Sarthak is a seasoned executive with deep expertise in IT and business process transformation mandates, end-to-end sourcing programs, and outsourced contract optimization. His experience spans a broad range of industries including manufacturing, consumer products, and financial services. Before WGroup, Sarthak served as the head of pricing advisory at Everest Group, where he established and led the pricing advisory practice, making it the fastest-growing division in the history of the firm. He was also a management consultant at Ernst & Young, where he specialized in strategic sourcing, process optimization, and market-entry strategies. Sarthak holds an MBA in finance and systems from Symbiosis International University in Pune, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the R.V. College of Engineering in Bangalore.
